Jeff, based in Reno, Nevada, is among the most seasoned neon artists in the area. Establishing his own neon shop in 1995, he now owns Neon Art Envy at the Pilfered Pines Neon Landscape Gallery. Jeff is driven by a passion to create unique neon art, constantly pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved. Crafting neon is not just a job for him; it’s a source of enjoyment.
In 2001, he demonstrated his creativity by producing twenty neon underwater cutthroat trout between Arlington and Sierra Street, illuminating the underwater in downtown Reno. During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he crafted the word “HOME” as a message to people to stay home in Nevada. Placing it by Mackern Street, Jeff’s love for creating extends into unconventional settings.
However, Jeff faces challenges in his business, notably the rising popularity of LED, which is gradually overshadowing traditional neon art. He believes that the authenticity and value of neon are being compromised, as neon and LED are distinct mediums. Through this video, Jeff aims to convey this crucial distinction and emphasize the enduring value of authentic neon art.
